בר עשרין וחמש שנין מלך אמציהו ועשרין ותשע שנין מלך בירושלם ושום אמיה יהועדן מירושלם:
myrwshlm yhwedn amyh wshwm byrwshlm mlk shnyn wthshe weshryn amtsyhw mlk shnyn wkhmsh eshryn br
Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jehoaddan, of Jerusalem.

ועבד דכשר קדם יי לחוד לא בלבב שלים:
shlym blbb la lkhwd yy qdm dkshr webd
He did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes, but not with a perfect heart.

והוה כד תקיפת מלכותא עלוהי וקטל ית עבדוהי די קטלו ית מלכא אבוהי:
abwhy mlka yth qTlw dy ebdwhy yth wqTl elwhy mlkwtha thqypth kd whwh
Now when the kingdom was established to him, he killed his servants who had killed his father the king.

וית בניהון לא קטל מן בגלל דכתיב בספרא דמשה די פקיד יי למימר לא ימותון אבהן מטול חובי בנין ובנין לא ימותון מטול חובי אבהן ארום אנש מטול חוביה ימותון:
ymwthwn khwbyh mTwl ansh arwm abhn khwby mTwl ymwthwn la wbnyn bnyn khwby mTwl abhn ymwthwn la lmymr yy pqyd dy dmshh bspra dkthyb bgll mn qTl la bnyhwn wyth
But he didn’t put their children to death, but did according to that which is written in the law in the book of Moses, as Yahweh commanded, saying, “The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.”

וכנש אמציהו ית אנש יהודה ואקימנון לבית אבהתא לרבני אלפין ולרבני מאותא לכל אנש יהודה ובנימין וממנין למבר עשרין שנין ולעלא ואשכחנון תלת מאה אלפין עולין נפק חילא אחד מורניתא ועגילא:
wegyla mwrnytha akhd khyla npq ewlyn alpyn mah thlth washkkhnwn wlela shnyn eshryn lmbr wmmnyn wbnymyn yhwdh ansh lkl mawtha wlrbny alpyn lrbny abhtha lbyth waqymnwn yhwdh ansh yth amtsyhw wknsh
Moreover Amaziah gathered Judah together and ordered them according to their fathers’ houses, under captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, even all Judah and Benjamin. He counted them from twenty years old and upward, and found that there were three hundred thousand chosen men, able to go out to war, who could handle spear and shield.

ואגר מישראל מאה אלפין גברי חילא במאה קנטרין דכסף:
dksp qnTryn bmah khyla gbry alpyn mah myshral wagr
He also hired one hundred thousand mighty men of valor out of Israel for one hundred talents of silver.

ונביא דיי אתא לותיה למימר לא ייתי עמך חילא דישראל ארום לית מימרא דיי בסעדהון דישראל כל מלכות שבטא דבית אפרים:
aprym dbyth shbTa mlkwth kl dyshral bsedhwn dyy mymra lyth arwm dyshral khyla emk yythy la lmymr lwthyh atha dyy wnbya
A man of God came to him, saying, “O king, don’t let the army of Israel go with you, for Yahweh is not with Israel, with all the children of Ephraim.

ארום אין עליל את עם שבטא דבית אפרים יתקלנך יי קדם בעלי דבבא ארום אית חילא בידא דיי למסעד ולתקלא:
wlthqla lmsed dyy byda khyla ayth arwm dbba bely qdm yy ythqlnk aprym dbyth shbTa em ath elyl ayn arwm
But if you will go, take action, and be strong for the battle. God will overthrow you before the enemy; for God has power to help, and to overthrow.”

ואמר אמציהו לנביא דיי ומה אית למעבד למאה קנטרין די יהבית אגר למשרית ישראל ואמר נביא דיי אית חילא קדם יי למתן לך סגי מן דין:
dyn mn sgy lk lmthn yy qdm khyla ayth dyy nbya wamr yshral lmshryth agr yhbyth dy qnTryn lmah lmebd ayth wmh dyy lnbya amtsyhw wamr
Amaziah said to the man of God, “But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel?” The man of God answered, “Yahweh is able to give you much more than this.”

ואפרישנון אמציהו למשריתא די אתא לותיה מאפרים וארשיאונון למיזל לאתרהון ותקף רגזהון לחדא ביהודה ותבו לאתרהון בתקוף רגז:
rgz bthqwp lathrhwn wthbw byhwdh lkhda rgzhwn wthqp lathrhwn lmyzl warshyawnwn maprym lwthyh atha dy lmshrytha amtsyhw wapryshnwn
Then Amaziah separated them, the army that had come to him out of Ephraim, to go home again. Therefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned home in fierce anger.

ואמציהו אתקף ודבר ית עמיה ואזל לחילת מלחא ומחא ית בני שעיר עשרתי אלפין:
alpyn eshrthy sheyr bny yth wmkha mlkha lkhylth wazl emyh yth wdbr athqp wamtsyhw
Amaziah took courage, and led his people out and went to the Valley of Salt, and struck ten thousand of the children of Seir.

ועשרתי אלפין כד חיין שבו בני יהודה ואיתיאונון לריש טנרא וטלקונון מריש טנרא וכלהון אתבזעו:
athbzew wklhwn Tnra mrysh wTlqwnwn Tnra lrysh waythyawnwn yhwdh bny shbw khyyn kd alpyn weshrthy
The children of Judah carried away ten thousand alive, and brought them to the top of the rock, and threw them down from the top of the rock, so that they all were broken in pieces.

ובני משריא דאתיב אמציהו מלמיזל עמיה לקרבא ואתנגידו בקרוי יהודה משומרון ועד בית חורון וקטלו מנהון תלתא אלפין ובזו ביזתא רבתא:
rbtha byztha wbzw alpyn thltha mnhwn wqTlw khwrwn byth wed mshwmrwn yhwdh bqrwy wathngydw lqrba emyh mlmyzl amtsyhw dathyb mshrya wbny
But the men of the army whom Amaziah sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, fell on the cities of Judah from Samaria even to Beth Horon, and struck of them three thousand, and took much plunder.

והוה בתר די אתא אמציהו מן למקטל ית אדומאי ואיתי ית טעות בני גבל ואקימנון ליה לדחלן וקדמיהון יסגוד וקדמיהון יסיק בוסמין:
bwsmyn ysyq wqdmyhwn ysgwd wqdmyhwn ldkhln lyh waqymnwn gbl bny Tewth yth waythy adwmay yth lmqTl mn amtsyhw atha dy bthr whwh
Now after Amaziah had come from the slaughter of the Edomites, he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them and burned incense to them.

ותקף רוגזא דיי באמציהו ושדר לותיה נביא ואמר ליה למה תבעתא ית טעות עממיא די לא שיזיבו ית עמהון מן ידך:
ydk mn emhwn yth shyzybw la dy emmya Tewth yth thbetha lmh lyh wamr nbya lwthyh wshdr bamtsyhw dyy rwgza wthqp
Therefore Yahweh’s anger burned against Amaziah, and he sent to him a prophet who said to him, “Why have you sought after the gods of the people, which have not delivered their own people out of your hand?”

והוה במללותיה עמיה ואמר ליה אפשר לממלך למלכא מניאו יתך פסוק לך למה יקטלונך ופסק נביא מלאתנבאה ואמר ידעית ארום מליך יי לחבלותך מטול די עבדתא דא ולא קבלתא למלכתי:
lmlkthy qbltha wla da ebdtha dy mTwl lkhblwthk yy mlyk arwm ydeyth wamr mlathnbah nbya wpsq yqTlwnk lmh lk pswq ythk mnyaw lmlka lmmlk apshr lyh wamr emyh bmllwthyh whwh
As he talked with him, the king said to him, “Have we made you one of the king’s counselors? Stop! Why should you be struck down?” Then the prophet stopped, and said, “I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.”

ואתמלך אמציהו מליך שבטא דבית יהודה ושדר לות יואש בר יהואחז בר יהוא מלכא דישראל למימר איתא ומתחמי אפין באפין בקרבא:
bqrba bapyn apyn wmthkhmy aytha lmymr dyshral mlka yhwa br yhwakhz br ywash lwth wshdr yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlyk amtsyhw wathmlk
Then Amaziah king of Judah consulted his advisers, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, “Come! Let’s look one another in the face.”

ושדר יואש מלכא דישראל לות אמציהו מלכא דבית יהודה למימר סילוא די בלבנן שדר לות ארזא די בלבנן למימר הב ית ברתך לברי לאנתו ועדת חיזת ברא די בלבנן ודושישת ית סילוא הכדין עבדתהא בעדן דשדרתא לותי ואגרתא מדבית ישראל מאה אלפין גברי חילא במאה קנטירין דכסף ומן בתר כדין פטרתנון מן למיזל עמך בקרבא ושדרתנון בתקוף רגזהון ואתנגידו בארע מלכותך וקטלו מנהון תלתא אלפין ובזו ביזתא רבתא:
rbtha byztha wbzw alpyn thltha mnhwn wqTlw mlkwthk bare wathngydw rgzhwn bthqwp wshdrthnwn bqrba emk lmyzl mn pTrthnwn kdyn bthr wmn dksp qnTyryn bmah khyla gbry alpyn mah yshral mdbyth wagrtha lwthy dshdrtha bedn ebdthha hkdyn sylwa yth wdwshyshth blbnn dy bra khyzth wedth lanthw lbry brthk yth hb lmymr blbnn dy arza lwth shdr blbnn dy sylwa lmymr yhwdh dbyth mlka amtsyhw lwth dyshral mlka ywash wshdr
Joash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, “The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, ‘Give your daughter to my son as his wife. Then a wild animal that was in Lebanon passed by and trampled down the thistle.

אמרתא במימרך הא קטלתא ית אדומאי ואתרם עלך לבך לאתיקרא כדון תיב בביתך למא את מתגרי בבישתא ותפל אנת ואנש יהודה עמך:
emk yhwdh wansh anth wthpl bbyshtha mthgry ath lma bbythk thyb kdwn lathyqra lbk elk wathrm adwmay yth qTltha ha bmymrk amrtha
You say to yourself that you have struck Edom; and your heart lifts you up to boast. Now stay at home. Why should you meddle with trouble, that you should fall, even you and Judah with you?’”

ולא קביל אמציהו ארום מן קדם יי הוא מן בגלל לממסרהון בידיהון ארום תבעו ית פולחן דחלן דאדום:
dadwm dkhln pwlkhn yth thbew arwm bydyhwn lmmsrhwn bgll mn hwa yy qdm mn arwm amtsyhw qbyl wla
But Amaziah would not listen; for it was of God, that he might deliver them into the hand of their enemies, because they had sought after the gods of Edom.

וסליק יואש מלכא דבית ישראל ואתחמיאו אפין באפין בקרבא הוא ואמציהו מליך שבטא דבית יהודה בבית שמש די לשבטא יהודה:
yhwdh lshbTa dy shmsh bbyth yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlyk wamtsyhw hwa bqrba bapyn apyn wathkhmyaw yshral dbyth mlka ywash wslyq
So Joash king of Israel went up, and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth Shemesh, which belongs to Judah.

ואתברו אנש יהודה קדם אנש ישראל ואפכו גבר לקרווהי:
lqrwwhy gbr wapkw yshral ansh qdm yhwdh ansh wathbrw
Judah was defeated by Israel; so every man fled to his tent.
23
וית אמציהו מליך שבטא דבית יהודה בר יואש בר יהואחז אחד יואש מלכא דבית ישראל בבית שמש ואיתיה לירושלם ותרע בשורא דירושלם מתרעא דאפרים עד תרע זויתא ארבע מאה אמין:
amyn mah arbe zwytha thre ed daprym mthrea dyrwshlm bshwra wthre lyrwshlm waythyh shmsh bbyth yshral dbyth mlka ywash akhd yhwakhz br ywash br yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlyk amtsyhw wyth
Joash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash the son of Jehoahaz, at Beth Shemesh and brought him to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.

וכל דהבא וכספא וכל מניא דאשתכחו בבית מקדשא דיי דאקדיש עובד אדום בעדן דנסיב דוד מן ביתיה ית ארונא דיי כד אתיבו יתיב פלשתאי וברכיה יי וית תסברי בית מלכא וית בני רברבניא דמתמשכנין גביה ותב לשומרון:
lshwmrwn wthb gbyh dmthmshknyn rbrbnya bny wyth mlka byth thsbry wyth yy wbrkyh plshthay ythyb athybw kd dyy arwna yth bythyh mn dwd dnsyb bedn adwm ewbd daqdysh dyy mqdsha bbyth dashthkkhw mnya wkl wkspa dhba wkl
He took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in God’s house with Obed-Edom, and the treasures of the king’s house, and the hostages, and returned to Samaria.

וחיא אמציהו בר יואש מלכא דבית יהודה בתר דמית יואש בר יהואחז מלכא דבית ישראל חמסרי שנין:
shnyn khmsry yshral dbyth mlka yhwakhz br ywash dmyth bthr yhwdh dbyth mlka ywash br amtsyhw wkhya
Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, lived for fifteen years after the death of Joash, son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel.

ושאר פתגמי אמציהו קדמאי דהליך בדחלתא דיי ובתראי די סטא מן ארחן דתקנן קדם יי הלא אנון כתיבין על ספר מלכיא דבית יהודה ודבית ישראל:
yshral wdbyth yhwdh dbyth mlkya spr el kthybyn anwn hla yy qdm dthqnn arkhn mn sTa dy wbthray dyy bdkhltha dhlyk qdmay amtsyhw pthgmy wshar
Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, first and last, behold, aren’t they written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel?

ומן עדן די סטא אמציהו מבתר פולחנא דיי ומרדו עלוי מרדא בירושלם ואפיך ללכיש ושדרו בתרוי ללכיש וקטלוהי תמן:
thmn wqTlwhy llkysh bthrwy wshdrw llkysh wapyk byrwshlm mrda elwy wmrdw dyy pwlkhna mbthr amtsyhw sTa dy edn wmn
Now from the time that Amaziah turned away from following Yahweh, they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem. He fled to Lachish, but they sent after him to Lachish and killed him there.
